Elisha Elizabeth Sumter was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on June 21, 1939. She was the second of twelve children.
God’s chosen vessel, Servant Leader, Faithful, Prayer Warrior, Educator, Child of The King, these are only a few qualifications of Elisha Elizabeth DuPree, a powerful woman of God, who embodied the “Fruit of the Holy Spirit” attributed throughout her daily life. Appointed and anointed for a life of service, Apostle Elisha Elizabeth DuPree mantra was “ To serve God in the spirit of excellence, reverenced the power of the Holy Ghost and operated with the mindset of Christ by assisting others beyond the expectation of man.
Elisha Elizabeth Sumter was united in holy matrimony to Clarence DuPree Sr. on April 24, 1959. To this union, four children were born: Reverend Clarence DuPree Jr., Evangelist Annette DuPree Johnson, Pastor Nathan Dewayne DuPree and Yolanda Elaine DuPree and she was blessed with a bonus daughter LaFranza Bennett.
Receiving her early educational training in the Orangeburg County public school system, Apostle DuPree continued her education as a student at the Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Having been employed with a few companies, she eventually answered the call upon her life and entered full-time ministry. Reared in Rock Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church, Elizabeth gave her life to Christ at the tender age of 29, while living in New York City. Upon her return to South Carolina, she joined Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church.
While attending Mt. Olive A.M.E., Elizabeth was officially admitted on trial at the 63rd Session of the Central Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church on November 16, 1986, and ultimately serviced as an Associate Pastor under the leadership of Reverend William Hammond. After being ordained as an Itinerant Elder. Elizabeth received her first Pastoral appointment at Good Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church on November 12, 1989.
Apostle Elisha Elizabeth DuPree, Founder of United Hope Ministries, “The Word Church” located at 100 Adams Road, Bowman, SC 29018 peacefully departed this earthly life on November 22, 2020.

After serving as Senior Pastor for over 13 years, God continued to direct Apostle DuPree path, and in November of 2002, United Hope Ministries “The Word Church” came to fruition. Apostle DuPree served faithfully and tirelessly as Senior Pastor until her passing. United Hope Ministries was birthed out of prayer, love, and labor and will always be an integral part of Apostle DuPree’s legacy and family.
Pastor DuPree, in the beginning always God first, then family and friends. She was truly God's Chosen Vessel. Pastor went on to be with Lord, stood at that gate of heaven before God he then said as said in Matthew 17:5 to Jesus his son, he said the same to Elisha Elizabeth DuPree his daughter "This is my beloved Daughter, in whom I am well pleased."
